How Friend Matching Works

A short quiz, a real person reviewing your answers, and a small friend circle built around who you actually are — not a swipe deck of strangers.

Not Just An Algorithm

A Quiz, Reviewed By An Actual Person

Software handles the sorting, but a Besties BFF coordinator reviews every match before it goes out. That's the part most apps skip, and it's the reason members tend to actually stick with the group they're placed in instead of ghosting after one event.

The goal isn't to find you a single best friend on day one. It's to place you in a small circle where at least a few people are worth getting to know better, and then get out of the way so those friendships can form on their own timeline.

What We Actually Ask

Three categories of questions, about six minutes total, and you control how much detail you share.

Interests & Hobbies

What you actually like doing on a free Saturday — hiking, board games, live music, cooking, running, reading — so your circle has real shared ground.

Schedule & Availability

Weeknights, weekend mornings, or somewhere in between — we place you with people whose free time actually overlaps with yours.

Life Stage & Values

New to Austin, recently single, working from home, raising young kids — matching people in similar seasons of life tends to click faster than matching on hobbies alone.

What You're Placed Into

Inside A Friend Circle

A friend circle is a standing group of six to ten members matched around shared interests and availability. Circles meet at least once a month at a Besties BFF event, though most groups end up planning extra hangouts on their own once they get comfortable.

Each circle has an assigned coordinator for the first ninety days — someone who checks in, suggests activities, and helps smooth over the early awkwardness that comes with meeting new people. After that, most circles run themselves.

From Quiz To First Hangout

1

Take the quiz — about 6 minutes

Answer questions about your interests, schedule, and what you're hoping to get out of a friend circle. There's no wrong answer, and you can skip anything you'd rather not share.

2

Coordinator review — 2 to 3 business days

A real person looks at your answers alongside open spots in nearby circles and puts together a match that makes sense on more than just shared keywords.

3

Meet your circle at a welcome mixer

Your first event is a low-key welcome mixer with your new circle and your coordinator, so introductions happen naturally instead of all at once at a big group event.

4

Your circle sets its own rhythm

From there, it's up to the group. Most circles land on a standing monthly hangout within the first few weeks, with plenty of smaller plans in between.

Matching FAQs

Q. How long until I'm matched into a circle?

Most members hear back within two to three business days on standard matching, or within 48 hours with Besties+. If no circle is a strong fit yet, we'll tell you rather than placing you somewhere that isn't.

Q. What if I don't click with my circle?

You can request a rematch at any time, no questions asked. It happens more often than you'd think, and it's not a reflection on you or the group — sometimes the fit just isn't right.

Q. Can I be in more than one friend circle?

Standard members are placed in one circle at a time. Besties+ members can join a second circle, which is popular with people who have a couple of very different interests they want to pursue.

Q. Is there an in-person interview before I'm matched?

No — the quiz and a short optional phone call with your coordinator cover everything we need. Most members are matched without ever needing a call.

Ready To Meet Your Circle?

The quiz takes about six minutes, and a coordinator will follow up with your match within a few business days.
